This page will update residents of the California Suites Hotel in San Diego, California about a pending lawsuit. UPDATED FEBRUARY 15, 2019.
If you stayed at the California Suites Hotel between July 7, 2011 and November 1, 2014 for at least 14 consecutive days and were required to check out/move before the 30th consecutive day, a class action lawsuit may affect your rights.
On March 10, 2017, the San Diego Superior Court certified a class of former residents meeting the above definition.
On October 26, 2018, the San Diego Superior Court gave preliminary approval to a class action settlement.
On February 8, 2019, the Court gave final approval to the settlement. Therefore, the settlement checks (each one will be $400 per violation*) will be mailed out in 60-90 days.
*a “violation” is each occasion you stayed 14-28 days, had to check out for one night, and then checked back in the next day.
To read the official court notice of the settlement, click Class Notice of Settlement.
Note: Settlement checks will be mailed to class members. If your current address is not on file, you will not receive your check and it will be forfeited. If you believe you are a class member (you stayed at least 14 consecutive days but were required to check out by the 30th day), CONTACT THIS LAW OFFICE IMMEDIATELY TO VERIFY YOUR ADDRESS.
